Automatic half-barrier level crossings – the ones where only half of the road is protected.
Isn’t it crazy that the company set aside more than £2m in 2011/12 for publicity, advising people about the dangers of these crossings and telling us “Never zig-zag around the half-barrier”?
Crazy because some of that money would be better spent in providing the other half to those barriers! Why not make them FULL barriers!!!
To play devil’s advocate for a moment; one reason given for using half-barriers is to leave the exit from the crossing clear at all times. OK, if that’s the case why aren’t all crossings half-barriers?
I simply can’t understand their logic, or is it just cheaper this way..?
